Housing & Weatherization |
Housing
is an essential need for every individual, but often there is a gap
between finding and maintaining safe, decent housing and being able
to afford it. Community Action Development Corporation has been
involved in this program since 1972 and can help bridge that gap with
our housing and weatherization programs.
The Weatherization
Program is designed to reduce the energy costs for income eligible
families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes, while
ensuring their health and safety. Blown insulation, entry doors,
windows, safe energy efficient heaters and even refrigerators are
some of the items that can be installed under this program.
The
Weatherization Program has also established a fee-for-service
program. The staff is trained in the latest energy saving techniques
and will provide recommendations for improvements that can be made by
the homeowner or request an estimate from our qualified technicians.
This program allows staff to perform various services, such as energy
audits and insulation, for clients who are not within the income
guidelines for the Weatherization Program.

Community Action also offers Homebuyer Education which prepares new and prospective homebuyers for what may be the largest investment they will ever make, their home. This training covers all of the major concerns, including types of insurance, shopping for the best finance rate, home inspection, tips on negotiating a selling price, and pros and cons of homeownership, when purchasing a home. After successful completion of this training, participants will receive a certificate of completion which is recognized by all major home financing agencies (VA, USDA/RD, FHLB, etc.).
